How much THC in a person’s system is too much when it comes to safely operating a motor vehicle? Due to the complexities of human biology, that question is far more difficult to answer than many policymakers would lead the public to believe. A new report examining the effects of adding medical marijuana to state prescription drug monitoring programs (PDMPs) finds that the additional tracking had mixed effects, both reducing the prescription of medications that could cause complications with cannabis and also exposing a possible bias against medical marijuana patients among healthcare providers. On one hand, says the research article, published this month in the journal Health Economics, adding medical marijuana to state PDMPs appears to have effectively reduced prescribing of medications that are severely or moderately contraindicated with cannabis, meaning the two drugs should not be combined. That’s a good thing for…

Last Thursday, we learned that the DEA’s marijuana rescheduling hearings are delayed until early next year. We also saw the list of 25 participants invited by the DEA to testify at those hearings. Many people online didn’t like this at all, but I’ll humbly submit that it’s closer to a nothingburger. The sky is not falling; delays are normal (and expected) Anyone…

The trial over Nebraska’s two medical cannabis ballot initiatives began Tuesday in Lancaster County District Court, highlighting ballot measures in the state, the different groups involved in the campaign, and notary publics, the Nebraska Examiner reports. Both proposals – which together if approved by voters would legalize medical cannabis in the state – remain on ballots but the trial outcome could invalidate the election results.  Attorneys for John Kuehn, a former state senator and former State Board of Health member who filed the lawsuit, and Secretary of State Bob Evnen, a defendant in the lawsuit, sought to frame the case around…
